[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] iPhone users will also be able to make easy payments at offline merchants without a physical card.
Shinhan Card announced on the 23rd that customers using iPhones can now make payments at offline merchants with just a touch, without a physical card, through Shinhan PayFAN’s newly launched "iPhone Touch Payment Service."
Shinhan Card collaborated with Dansol Plus, the 5th batch of Shinhan Futures Lab, which possesses ultrasonic communication technology, to develop and pilot the iPhone Touch Payment Plus. Based on the data accumulated during the pilot operation, they have released the "iPhone Touch Payment Case."
The iPhone Touch Payment Case, the first in Korea to utilize ultrasonic communication technology, can be used at all domestic merchants, unlike the Near Field Communication (NFC) method. It is designed to look like a regular smartphone case and also includes a transportation card function.
The iPhone Touch Payment Case is available for pre-order on the Shinhan PayFAN event page for iPhone 11 Pro, SE2 models, and above. From the 14th of next month, a second pre-order will open for iPhone 11 and iPhone Pro Max model cases. Cases for other models, including the iPhone 12, will be released sequentially.
To celebrate the launch of the iPhone Touch Payment Case, Shinhan Card has prepared an event. Customers who purchase the case through this pre-order can buy it at a special price with a 30% discount off the regular price. Additionally, among the pre-order customers, a raffle will be held to provide prizes such as a full cashback of the purchase price, iPass Air 4, and Apple Watch 6.
