Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Officially Launches 'Firefighter Workplace Council'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) announced on the 22nd the official launch of the ‘Firefighter Workplace Council’ to improve the treatment and protect the rights of firefighters.
Last year, with the revision of the ‘Act on the Establishment and Operation of Workplace Councils for Public Officials,’ fire organizations were also allowed to form workplace councils.
After the inaugural general meeting on the day, the official activities were announced through the certificate issuance ceremony.
Beomsik, while complying with social distancing and personal quarantine measures and with only a minimum number of attendees, held a non-face-to-face general meeting to deliberate and approve the operating regulations and elected nine council members including the representative delegate. The first representative was Fire Lieutenant Hwang Seon.
Currently composed of 150 members, the workplace council operates as a channel for communication and harmony within the workplace, aiming to improve firefighters’ working conditions, enhance work efficiency, and handle grievances of firefighters.
