Suwon City to Provide '2nd Disaster Relief Fund' to Artists
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide a second round of emergency disaster relief funds to local cultural and artistic workers who are having difficulties in their activities due to COVID-19.
On the 22nd, Suwon City announced that it plans to verify the eligibility of cultural and artistic workers who received emergency disaster relief funds in May and June, and then provide the second round of support before the Chuseok holiday. The support amount is KRW 300,000 for single-person households and KRW 500,000 for households with two or more people, the same as the amount paid in the first round.
New cultural and artistic workers must apply from the 28th of this month until the 16th of next month. The city will verify residency, proof of artistic activity, income criteria, and select recipients, announcing the final recipients on the 29th of next month.
New applicants are eligible if their household income is below 150% of the median income.
The announcement for the support fund payment can be found on the Suwon Cultural Foundation website (https://www.swcf.or.kr) under 'Support Project Announcements.'
A city official stated, "Until the COVID-19 situation settles, cultural and artistic activities that require face-to-face interaction will be difficult to carry out," adding, "We will support Suwon area artists so that they do not lose their pride and can continue their cultural and artistic activities."
