Mapo-gu 'Public Night Pharmacies' Open Until 1 AM, 365 Days a Year
One Public Night Pharmacy Available Daily from 10 PM to 1 AM Next Day... Expected to Address Nighttime and Holiday Primary Care Gaps and Medication Purchase Inconveniences
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will designate and operate a public night pharmacy starting from the 16th to address the primary medical care gap occurring during nighttime and holidays and to alleviate residents' inconvenience in purchasing medicines.
The district recently designated Biondu Supsok Pharmacy (111 World Cup-ro), located near Mangwon Station, as a public night pharmacy operating daily until 1 a.m. This measure aims to increase local residents' accessibility to pharmacies during late-night hours when regular pharmacies are closed and to prevent misuse of medicines through pharmacists' medication guidance.
According to this measure, the Mapo-gu public night pharmacy will be open 365 days a year from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. the next day, available for anyone to use.
The public night pharmacy handles medications commonly used by the general public, including antipyretics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, cold and respiratory medicines, digestive system drugs, dermatological, genitourinary drugs, ophthalmic, otolaryngological, dental medicines, neuropsychiatric drugs, ointments, and other external preparations.
Pharmacist Jang Young-ok of Biondu Supsok Pharmacy said, “Operating a public night pharmacy requires working during nighttime hours, which can be risky and not profitable, but we operate it with a sense of mission and a spirit of service for the health of residents.”
The district plans to expand promotion and support for the public night pharmacy to resolve the issue of purchasing medicines during nighttime hours, which residents have endured inconvenience with, ensuring safe medicine purchases.
Additionally, it was added that the number of such pharmacies will gradually increase according to future resident demand and response.
