[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment will hold the '2020 Global Green Hub Korea (GGHK 2020)' from the 22nd for four days to support environmental and energy companies in securing projects from overseas clients.
Now in its 13th year, this event is the largest invitation event for overseas clients in the environmental and energy sectors in Korea. This year, due to restrictions on international travel caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the event will be held online in a non-face-to-face format via the event website.
About 100 excellent small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies from Korea will participate in this event, engaging in contract consultations for promising environmental and energy sector projects worth $5.4046 billion (6.345 trillion KRW) with 50 clients from 28 countries worldwide, including Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Ministry of Environment conducted a preliminary briefing session on business plans directly introduced by clients from the 9th to the 21st for domestic companies, and will support one-on-one customized online business consultations from the 22nd to the 25th.
The international forum for strengthening cooperation in the environmental and energy industries (Global Environment and Energy Vision Forum) will be held online from 2 p.m. on the 22nd, with the forum and overseas client business plan information broadcast live on YouTube.
Karin Kemper, Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Global Practice at the World Bank; Choi Yoon-sik, Director of the Asia Future Talent Institute; Edward James, Project Director of Meed, a Middle East economic magazine; and Kim Sun-gyo, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Planning and Evaluation, will introduce ways for environmental and energy companies to expand overseas in the post-COVID era.
The Overseas Cooperation Center of the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and KOTRA overseas trade offices will hold on-site briefings introducing environmental policies and entry strategies of six countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
Additionally, real-time answers to companies' questions will be provided through online Q&A, and videos explaining promising environmental and energy sector projects produced by overseas clients will be made available on the event website.
The Ministry of Environment plans to continuously support business consultations using the online business consultation system even after the event to ensure successful contract achievements.
