This campaign involves the production of videos encouraging the purchase of local specialties by Jeonnam education staff, including the main office, city and county education support offices, and affiliated organizations, from the 21st to the 29th, which will be promoted through social networking services (SNS).
It is expected that if all Jeonnam education staff purchase agricultural products worth about 100,000 KRW per person through traditional market shopping events, it will have a 3 billion KRW effect on revitalizing the local economy.
Since early this year, the Office of Education has continuously carried out agricultural product consumption campaigns targeting its staff as school meals were suspended due to repeated delays in school openings and remote classes, and flower consumption decreased due to the cancellation of graduation and entrance ceremonies.
The ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package’ project, jointly promoted with Jeonnam Province as the first of its kind nationwide, attracted nationwide attention. This project, in collaboration with Jeonnam Province, delivered eco-friendly agricultural ingredient packages worth about 40,000 KRW per person to all student households in the Jeonnam region, helping farmers who were struggling.
Also, in early March, to support flower farmers who were having a hard time due to the cancellation of graduation and entrance ceremonies at various schools, a ‘Love Flower Sharing Event’ was held, and Superintendent Jang Seok-ung participated in a flower farm support relay campaign through his SNS.
In addition, various events were held throughout the year, including ▲Love Flower Day Campaign ▲Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Joint Purchase Campaign ▲5·18 Democratization Movement 40th Anniversary Agricultural Products Sharing Event ▲Melon Buying Movement.
In particular, in June, to alleviate the worsening rural labor shortage due to the COVID-19 impact, Superintendent Jang Seok-ung and about 50 education office staff participated in helping with work at an onion farm in the Cheonggye-myeon area of Muan County.

Superintendent Jang Seok-ung said, “Although everyone is going through difficult times due to COVID-19 this year, the difficulties faced by rural farming and fishing villages, which were directly hit by the suspension of school meals, must have been even greater. I hope that the small sincerity of the Jeonnam education family will be a comfort to local farmers and fishermen and greatly help overcome this national crisis.”
