Emergency Women's Hotline and Childcare Services Continue Operation During Chuseok Holiday
Youth Shelter and Danuri Call Center Available for 24-Hour Counseling
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] During the Chuseok holiday period, the Women's Emergency Hotline, Family Counseling Hotline, and Childcare Services will continue to be available.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 21st the public welfare stabilization services provided during the Chuseok holiday.
Childcare services will continue to operate for families who find it difficult to care for their children during the holiday, such as dual-income or single-parent families working during Chuseok. This service involves caregivers visiting homes with children aged 12 and under to look after them. A 50% surcharge applies for use during holidays and nighttime.
The Family Counseling Hotline, which offers counseling and support service guidance for single parents, pregnancy and childbirth conflict counseling and information, as well as psychological and emotional counseling for family conflicts, will also be available. In particular, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., counseling is available for issues such as family conflicts, depression, and stress caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The Danuri Call Center for marriage immigrant women operates 24 hours a day in 13 languages including Vietnamese, Chinese, and Filipino (Tagalog).
More than 130 youth shelters nationwide will remain open all day, and the 1388 Youth Counseling service will also operate 24 hours via phone and text messages.
