Gwangju City Signs Business Agreement with Energy Industry Leading Company S-Energy Group
Cooperation for Realizing a Carbon-Neutral, Energy Self-Reliant RE100 Gwangju by 2045

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that Mayor Lee Yong-seop and Chairman Hong Seong-min of S-Energy Group attended and signed a business agreement at the S-Energy Group headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, to ensure the success of the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal.
S-Energy Group is a total renewable energy solution company composed of S-Energy, which sells and manufactures solar modules based on solar module technology; S-Power, which provides solar power management and precise power plant diagnostic services; and S-Fuelcell, which manufactures and sells fuel cells for buildings and power generation.
Gwangju City and S-Energy Group are expected to contribute to fostering new energy industries and strengthening the competitiveness of the energy industry through the realization of an energy self-sufficient city with carbon neutrality by 2045 and RE100 Gwangju.
Additionally, through this business agreement, Gwangju City plans to actively work on creating an environment for project promotion presented at the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal vision briefing to establish a carbon-neutral energy self-sufficient city RE100 Gwangju by 2045, and S-Energy Group plans to actively cooperate to ensure the success of the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ active participation in projects to create an energy self-sufficient city Gwangju ▲ efforts to produce and supply modules related to the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal locally and active cooperation in building an AI cloud-based integrated operation platform ▲ participation in village and school-level cooperative funds of the Gwangju-type Green New Deal, redistribution of profits, and contribution to the local community through job creation ▲ and other mutually cooperative matters in the fields of artificial intelligence and energy.
This agreement is expected to accelerate the realization of a carbon-neutral energy self-sufficient city RE100 Gwangju as the first business agreement with an energy company since the ‘Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal Vision Briefing’ held on July 21.
Chairman Hong Seong-min of S-Energy Group said, “The Gwangju Green New Deal project is closely related to the projects our company is promoting, so continuous cooperation is possible, and the modules used in the Green New Deal will be produced and supplied locally,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure the success of the Gwangju-type AI-Green New Deal based on public-private win-win cooperation through this agreement.”

Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “Cooperation with S-Energy Group, which has long promoted renewable energy projects to create a clear and clean world, means that Gwangju has gained a reliable partner to achieve energy self-sufficiency and foster new energy industries,” and added, “By cooperating with S-Energy Group to realize an energy self-sufficient city, Gwangju will leap forward as the safest, cleanest, and most livable global green city and lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution through Gwangju as an AI-centered city.”
