Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Early Admission for New Students 'Non-Face-to-Face'
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) announced on the 18th that it will switch the interview evaluation method for next year's early admission of freshmen to a non-face-to-face format.
The school previously selected freshmen through face-to-face interviews but decided to change to a non-face-to-face format starting this year. This is a measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Applicants are required to record and submit videos of assigned tasks. The application submission period has also been extended by two days to June 23?28 compared to previous years. All submitted documents must be received online, by registered mail, or official documents only; in-person submissions will not be accepted to prevent infectious diseases.
President Yonghoon Lee stated, "We aim to provide equal opportunities to all students who have diligently worked to achieve their dreams of becoming science and technology researchers despite the challenging educational environment caused by COVID-19," adding, "This decision also considers applicants who are suddenly undergoing treatment or quarantine due to COVID-19, allowing them to still challenge UNIST admission."
