Hwasun-gun to Conduct 'Special Origin Labeling Inspection' Until the 28th
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 17th that it will conduct a special crackdown on origin labeling in preparation for Chuseok until the 28th.
This special crackdown, organized by the county and the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Hwasun Office), plans to focus on guidance and enforcement targeting holiday supplies and gift items ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The main targets of the crackdown are agricultural product sales and processing companies, traditional markets, and restaurants.
They will focus on monitoring compliance with origin labeling, appropriateness of labeling methods, false or misleading origin labels, and acts of disguising or mixing origins in sales.
The county plans to actively promote public awareness to establish a distribution order that consumers can trust and to activate origin labeling in time for Chuseok.
According to the origin labeling system, ▲ failure to label the origin results in a fine of up to 10 million KRW ▲ false labeling is punishable by up to 7 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 100 million KRW.

A county official said, “Sellers must correctly label the origin when selling agricultural and livestock products, and consumers must always check the origin,” adding, “If you suspect origin labeling violations, please report immediately to the ‘Agricultural Food Fraud Reporting Center.’”
