HDC Hyunsan Launches 1-on-1 Coaching to Enhance Team Members' Capabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] HDC Hyundai Development Company announced on the 17th that it will implement the ‘H-PIC (HDC Performance Improvement Coaching) Program,’ where leaders such as team leaders, group leaders, and site managers coach team members one-on-one, starting this month.
Through the H-PIC program, leaders and members will have regular opportunities to exchange feedback on performance.
The coaching is conducted mainly through conversations to foster individual autonomy and responsibility. Leaders act as coaches and conduct face-to-face or remote coaching sessions with team members twice a month for about 30 minutes, helping to improve work capabilities. Team members set and adjust goals through specific feedback to achieve the best work results.
Globally renowned companies such as Google, GE, and Volkswagen have already activated performance management programs that enhance organizational performance through feedback processes, such as writing essays on goal execution methods to receive coaching from mentors or frequently communicating with coaches to achieve work objectives.
HDC Hyundai Development plans to establish a performance management culture within the company by holding explanatory sessions for leaders and providing training to improve coaching skills.
In this regard, Chairman Chung Mong-gyu gifted team leaders the book Bill Campbell, The Great Coach of Silicon Valley, which highlights the life and leadership of Bill Campbell, a legendary mentor who contributed to the success of core Silicon Valley companies like Apple and Google. Chairman Chung urged, “Leaders should first change their awareness and modify their behavior to empower team members to grow and develop.”
