Gimhae-si to Soon Begin Construction of Customized Care Facility for Dementia Patients ... Opening Scheduled for September Next Year

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 16th that it will actively promote the construction of a public dementia-specialized elderly care facility and a daytime care facility.
Gimhae City plans to begin construction on the 21st of a facility with a total floor area of 2,436㎡, consisting of one basement floor and two above-ground floors, located in Suan-ri, Daedong-myeon, with a total project cost of 7.8 billion KRW, aiming for completion in September next year.
The first floor will be arranged with offices, a dining hall, daytime care facilities, and outdoor rest areas. The second floor will be filled with dementia-specialized care rooms including a common living room, a kitchenette, bedrooms, and a waste disposal room.
The dementia-specialized facility will have bedrooms that are 3.3㎡ (1 pyeong) larger per person than general care facilities, and each room will accommodate no more than 12 people, providing a comfortable environment. Additionally, the inclusion of a common living room is expected to allow residents to live in an environment similar to a home.

A Gimhae City official stated, "Currently, the city has 11 care facilities, all of which are general care facilities," adding, "With the establishment of dementia-specialized care facilities and daytime care facilities, we will be able to provide customized welfare services for dementia patients and reduce the caregiving burden on their families."
