Yeonggwang-gun, Recruiting 'Our Neighborhood Art' Artist Teams Until the 23rd
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seong-jeong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 16th that it is recruiting artist teams for the public art project "Our Neighborhood Art" until the 23rd.
This public art project "Our Neighborhood Art" is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Jeollanam-do, organized by the county, and cooperated by the Korea Arts & Culture Commission. It is a project to create historical and cultural streets that fit the identity and characteristics of the region.
The county plans to select one artist team (37 or more members) to install public art works (murals, sculptures, paintings, and other installation-type works) in the village area of Jinnae-ri, Beopseong-myeon by February next year, with a project budget of 400 million won.
A county official said, "This project is expected to provide jobs to local artists who are facing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and greatly contribute to the development of local spatial culture," adding, "We look forward to innovative proposals that will highlight the county's characteristics and enhance cultural enjoyment opportunities for local residents."
