KT Infectious Disease Spread Prevention Platform Wins Award Overseas
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT's 'Global Epidemic Prevention Platform (GEPP)' announced on the 16th that it won the Silver Award in the Best Technology Innovation for COVID-19 Response category at the '2020 Stevie Awards International Business Awards.'
The 'Stevie Awards International Business Awards' is an international competition hosted by the American Stevie Awards, recognizing various business activities conducted throughout the year by individuals and organizations worldwide, including public and private sectors, for-profit and non-profit, large and small entities.
In its 17th year, the International Business Awards saw competition among over 3,800 candidates from 63 countries. A panel of approximately 250 judges, composed of senior executives from around the world, reviewed entries from July to September across 13 categories to select the final winners in each field. The newly established category this year, 'Best Technology Innovation for COVID-19 Response,' recognizes innovative non-medical technologies addressing COVID-19.
KT's epidemic prevention platform (GEPP) is a solution that utilizes telecommunications big data technology to inform citizens who have visited countries with outbreaks about infection risks and assists health authorities in monitoring risk inflows. Since the MERS outbreak in 2015, KT has been promoting a project based on overseas roaming data since 2016 to prevent the overseas inflow of infectious diseases.
