Burkina Faso Nationwide Travel Alert Raised to 'Recommend Evacuation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the travel advisory for the entire Burkina Faso region, excluding Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, to Level 3 (recommendation to evacuate) starting from the 14th. Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso are under a special travel warning.
This adjustment comes in response to armed groups operating in Burkina Faso attacking border posts in the Burkina Faso-C?te d'Ivoire border area, resulting in the deaths of 13 soldiers, raising concerns about the safety of overseas nationals within Burkina Faso. As of September 2020, there are 47 overseas nationals residing in Burkina Faso.
