According to the city, Mayor Heo visited Beomhan Industrial Co., Ltd., a hydrogen fuel cell company, on the 15th and held in-depth discussions on the hydrogen fuel cell sector.
The reason Mayor Heo is paying great attention to local hydrogen companies and industries is due to the government’s announced ‘Korean-style Green New Deal’ policy. In July, the government announced the ‘Hydrogen Industry Ecosystem Competitiveness Enhancement Plan,’ which includes achieving a 90% domestic production rate of fuel cells by 2030 and expanding the distribution of distributed fuel cells, as well as the ‘Korean New Deal Comprehensive Plan’ that includes the development of eco-friendly ship technologies.
Accordingly, Mayor Heo requested that Beomhan Industrial play a leading role in the transportation fuel cell sector, including construction machinery and ships, where demand is expected to increase in the future, as well as in the building fuel cell sector, through the development and commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell system technologies.

During the meeting with Jeong Young-sik, CEO of Beomhan Industrial Co., Ltd., held that day, Mayor Heo emphasized, “I hope that Beomhan Fuel Cell will lead the development and utilization of hydrogen fuel cell technologies, which are part of the government’s Green New Deal and hydrogen economy activation policies, and contribute to national development.”
