Seoul Reports 32 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... 10 Confirmed at Our Church in Songpa-gu During 'In-Person Worship' (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] On the 14th, 32 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Seoul in one day, marking the second-lowest number in the past month.
Seoul City announced on the 15th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 32 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,743.
The daily new cases in Seoul recorded the lowest number in a month at 31 on the 12th, then rose to 41 on the 13th, but dropped back to the 30s within two days.
Among the new cases on this day, 6 were classified as part of a cluster infection at Uri Church in Songpa-gu. After the pastor and three church members were first confirmed positive on the 13th, 6 more tested positive on the 14th, bringing the total related cases to 10.
It was confirmed that 11 people gathered for worship at this church twice, on the 30th of last month and the 6th of this month, after the ban on in-person services was implemented. Seoul City's rapid response team is conducting epidemiological and contact investigations, and the church has been temporarily closed.
Additionally, 3 cases were added related to K Health Industry in Gangnam-gu (total 14), 1 case related to a sales business in Gwanak-gu (total 6), 1 case from contact with confirmed patients from other cities/provinces, and 12 cases from other routes. There are 9 cases still under investigation as their infection routes have not yet been identified.
The number of COVID-19 deaths in Seoul increased by 2, totaling 42. The 41st death was a person in their 80s with underlying conditions who was confirmed positive on the 25th of last month and passed away on the 12th after isolation treatment. The 42nd death was also a person in their 80s with underlying conditions, confirmed positive on the 27th of last month, and died on the 13th during isolation treatment.
So far, 3,493 confirmed patients in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 1,208 are currently receiving isolation treatment.
