"Just Need the Phone Number" Hyundai Department Store Introduces 'Gift Sending' Service
Starting from the 17th, 'Gift Service' Introduced at Over 3,700 Fashion and Accessories Stores
Send Gifts via Text Message Using Phone Number Without Address After Purchase in Store
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Hyundai Department Store will implement a service that allows customers to conveniently send gifts purchased at offline stores to recipients using their mobile phone numbers.
On the 15th, Hyundai Department Store announced that it will introduce the 'Gift Sending' service, which enables customers to send gifts via text message by simply knowing the recipient's mobile phone number, even if they do not know the recipient's address. The service will be available at over 3,700 stores (about 600 brands) across 15 stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong Main Store. The service will be available from the 15th at 10 stores in the Gyeongin region, including Apgujeong Main Store, Trade Center Store, Mokdong Store, and Pangyo Store, and from the 17th at 5 stores including Chungcheong Store, Daegu Store, Busan Store, Ulsan Store, and Ulsan Dong-gu Store.
Previously, to send gifts purchased at department stores, additional information such as the recipient's address was required besides their contact number. However, with the 'Hyundai Department Store Gift Sending' service, customers can easily send gifts using only the recipient's mobile phone number. This is the first time such a service has been introduced among domestic department stores.
A Hyundai Department Store official said, "'Hyundai Department Store Gift Sending' service integrates the gift sending function mainly used in online malls and social networking services into offline stores," adding, "From the sender's perspective, it is advantageous to carefully check and purchase products at offline stores and then conveniently send gifts."
The 'Hyundai Department Store Gift Sending' service applies to products purchased in categories such as cosmetics, semi-jewelry, handbags, accessories, imported clothing, children's wear, sports fashion, tableware, small home appliances, and health foods. However, large home appliances or furniture that require professional installation, fresh foods, and overseas luxury goods are excluded. The service is free for purchases over 50,000 KRW, while a delivery fee of 3,000 KRW applies for purchases under 50,000 KRW.
The 'Hyundai Department Store Gift Sending' service can be easily used via KakaoTalk text messages. After paying for the product at the store, the customer provides their mobile phone number to the store staff, who then sends a 'Send Gift' link via KakaoTalk text message. By entering the recipient's contact information in the link, the delivery request is completed.
At the same time, the recipient receives a 'Receive Gift' link via KakaoTalk text message. By clicking the link, the recipient can check the sender and product information and enter their home address. If the recipient does not wish to receive the gift via delivery, they can visit the purchasing store within 7 days to pick it up. If the size does not fit or the color is unsatisfactory, the recipient can call the store before delivery to exchange the product and then receive it.
