Gwangju City Implements Special Chuseok Quarantine and Citizen Life Stabilization Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will implement the ‘Chuseok Special Quarantine and Citizen Life Stability Measures’ to ensure that citizens can spend a safe and healthy Chuseok holiday from COVID-19.
This measure was prepared focusing on current issues in response to the COVID-19 situation, considering that the trend of COVID-19 resurgence has not yet stabilized.
From today until the 4th of next month, Gwangju City will promote 50 tasks across 11 items in 2 fields: special quarantine for COVID-19 response and citizen life stability measures.
The special quarantine field for COVID-19 response will be promoted through 3 items and 12 detailed tasks, including ▲operation of a special quarantine week for Chuseok ▲maintenance of a flawless quarantine system ▲provision of uninterrupted medical services.
First, during the same period, a special quarantine week for Chuseok will be operated to create an atmosphere of spreading and practicing daily quarantine through a city-wide campaign for citizens such as ‘Spending Chuseok holiday at home’ and ‘Overcoming COVID-19 together.’
In addition, before and after the holiday, compliance with quarantine rules will be intensively inspected at about 35,700 places across 14 types, including religious and cultural facilities and various workplaces.
Special quarantine measures will be established and thoroughly managed for places expected to be crowded during the Chuseok holiday, such as ▲ancestral graves and enshrinement facilities ▲multi-use transportation facilities ▲traditional markets and large-scale stores.
Furthermore, a flawless quarantine system will be maintained during the holiday period in response to COVID-19.
The COVID-19 situation room will be operated continuously, and an immediate response team will be formed to prepare for group patient outbreaks, responding 24 hours to emergencies. Overseas arrivals management and quarantine facilities will operate normally as usual.
Self-quarantined individuals will be managed under a special management plan, operating with a strengthened management system including the formation of an emergency response team, establishment of a transport system to prevent unauthorized long-distance absences such as visiting ancestral graves, and conducting surprise inspections.
Screening clinics at five district offices and infectious disease specialized hospitals will also operate normally to maintain a rapid diagnosis and treatment system for COVID-19.
To prevent medical service gaps during the holiday, an emergency medical system will be established, and on-duty medical institutions and pharmacies will be operated to provide uninterrupted medical services.
On-duty medical institutions can be checked on the Emergency Medical Portal.
Meanwhile, the citizen life stability measures will be promoted through 8 items and 38 tasks, including ▲support for care gap for marginalized neighbors during the holiday ▲special price management and revitalization of traditional markets ▲resolution of unpaid wages for workers ▲traffic flow and transportation measures for returning visitors ▲various disaster and safety management ▲stable supply of tap water and fuel ▲creation of a clean and pleasant environment ▲strict establishment of public service discipline.
First, support will be provided to marginalized neighbors so that no citizens suffer inconvenience due to care gaps during the holiday period.
Seamless care services will be provided to vulnerable elderly, disabled persons, low-income single-parent families, and low-income children.
In particular, emergency welfare support criteria will be relaxed to support crisis families in welfare blind spots struggling due to COVID-19.
Efforts will also be made to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed by COVID-19, by taking care of the livelihood field.
Regional economic revitalization will be promoted through the purchase of Onnuri gift certificates, campaigns to use traditional markets, operation of local food direct stores, and agricultural product direct transaction markets. At the same time, a situation room and task force will be formed to implement price stabilization measures for price stability.
To facilitate traffic for returning visitors and ancestral grave visitors during the Chuseok holiday, traffic flow and transportation measures will be promoted, while also ensuring thorough COVID-19 response.
During the holiday, special transportation measures for city buses will be implemented by increasing the number of vehicles and trips on routes passing through Gwangju General Bus Terminal, and subway operation will be extended on the 29th to provide convenience for returning visitors using high-speed trains.
In addition, ambulances will be pre-positioned at multiple crowded areas expected to be busy with returning visitors and ancestral grave visitors, such as Gwangju General Bus Terminal, National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery, and Songjeong Station, to establish an immediate transport system that can quickly move suspected COVID-19 cases to screening clinics, striving to prevent COVID-19 infection.
