You can apply in person at your local community center with ID or submit documents by email by the 18th... Work conditions are 4-6 hours per day, 5 days a week, with a maximum daily wage of 51,540 KRW... Includes 4 major insurances and legal allowances
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] As COVID-19 resurges and the employment market faces red flags, Jongno-gu has stepped up to catch two rabbits at once: local quarantine and job creation.
Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is recruiting an additional 327 participants for the Hope Job Project until September 18 to respond to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
The COVID-19 Overcoming Hope Job Project is a program Jongno-gu has been promoting since July to recover from the employment shock caused by the largest drop in employment since the financial crisis and the unprecedented surge in the number of people on leave or furlough.
The recruitment target is Jongno-gu residents aged 18 or older with the ability to work as of the project start date (October 5). Priority will be given to low-income groups, the unemployed, closed business owners, and those on leave due to the prolonged COVID-19 crisis, as well as other vulnerable employment groups. Special employment types and freelancers are also eligible to apply. However, those who previously participated in public job projects but dropped out without justifiable reasons, habitual absentees, latecomers, those who drank during work, left the workplace, or showed poor work attitude, as well as families of public officials, are not allowed to participate.
The project period is from October 5 to November 30, lasting a total of two months, with a principle of working 4 to 6 hours per day, five days a week. Wages range from 34,360 KRW per day (4 hours) to 51,540 KRW per day (6 hours), with coverage under the four major social insurances and statutory allowances.
Upon final selection, participants will be assigned public job duties such as ▲supporting daily quarantine ▲improving public facilities like parks and environmental maintenance ▲emergency public work support to aid local economic recovery and quarantine efforts.
The announcement of successful candidates will be individually notified by the respective project departments on September 28.
Residents wishing to participate can apply in person at their local community service center with an ID card by September 18.
To prevent COVID-19 infection, the district also accepts applications via email (ghkdwleks@mail.jongno.go.kr).
Application forms can be downloaded from the district office website.
For more details, please check the recruitment announcement or contact the Job Economy Division.
Following this, from October 5 to November 30, the 'COVID-19 Response School Life Safety Keeper Support Project' will be conducted.
Jongno-gu has actively promoted infection prevention activities, such as disinfecting school facilities in cooperation with military units, to block COVID-19 outbreaks within schools.
However, with the prolonged COVID-19 situation, infection cases continue to occur within schools.
To protect students, ease parents' anxiety, and provide public jobs to residents facing economic difficulties, the district decided to place 'School Life Safety Keepers' in schools that wish to participate, linked with the Hope Job Project to support COVID-19 prevention.
Since September 3, a demand survey for school disinfection personnel was conducted, with requests for a total of 61 personnel from 5 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, and 9 high schools. Accordingly, the district is publicly recruiting School Life Safety Keepers.
Applicants must be Jongno-gu residents aged 18 to 55 with the ability to work as of the project start date (October 5). The principle is working five days a week, with wages ranging from 34,360 KRW per day (4 hours) to 51,540 KRW per day (6 hours), including coverage under the four major social insurances and statutory allowances.
Selected candidates will work at the assigned schools for two months, performing COVID-19 prevention activities such as student temperature checks, disinfecting classrooms and cafeterias, and supporting daily quarantine measures as needed by the schools.
Required documents and the list of participating schools can be found on the district office website. Applications must be submitted in person with an ID and supporting documents to the desired school between September 14 and 22.
The final selection will be announced on September 25.

The School Life Safety Keeper project is implemented to protect students from infectious diseases and create an environment where they can focus on their studies. Although these are challenging times for everyone due to COVID-19, we will strive to promote tailored projects that local residents truly need to prevent the spread of infection within the community and create employment.”
