'Miusae' Juhyunmi Reveals Giving Up Pharmacist Path to Become Singer: "Mom Cried a Lot"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-ho] Joo Hyun-mi is drawing attention as she recalls the time she gave up being a pharmacist to become a singer.
On the afternoon of the 13th, SBS entertainment program 'My Ugly Duckling' (hereafter 'Miwoo-sae') aired a segment featuring Joo Hyun-mi reminiscing about the time she quit being a pharmacist and became a singer.
That day, Joo Hyun-mi recalled her award acceptance speech where she shouted out to her husband, saying, "I think I was really young back then."
Furthermore, she said, "I got married at 28," adding, "As a rookie, I guess I didn't know how to balance work and love." Upon hearing this, Seo Jang-hoon joked, "Would it have been difficult to get married if you weren't a rookie?" which brought laughter. Joo Hyun-mi then said, "Please edit that out," causing those around her to burst into laughter.
Joo Hyun-mi said she was a daughter who listened well to her mother. She mentioned, "I think I tried not to upset my mother."
She went on, "When I said I was quitting the pharmacy to become a singer, my mother cried a lot," adding, "As a singer, I often had to perform at nightclubs, and I had to wear dresses at night, which made my mother wail loudly," evoking sympathy.
Later, Joo Hyun-mi said she scolded her eldest son when he became class president. She explained, "If you become a parent of a student council member, you have to participate in school events, but I couldn't because of my schedule," adding, "So it inevitably became a burden. That's why I told him not to become class president. Looking back now, I feel sorry as it might have caused him significant emotional hurt."
However, at sports day, Joo Hyun-mi said, "Whenever I had time, I participated in all the events. There is something called 'Mom's Running Race.' At first, I participated just for the experience, but my son's eyes were more serious than ever. So, in that moment, I got competitive. I, who always came in last when I was young, won first place in the running race that day," she revealed.
