Total Budget 400 Million KRW, Local Artists to Beautify Mokpo by February Next Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, one of the 'Four Major Tourism Hub Cities of the Republic of Korea,' has rolled up its sleeves to redefine the value of local tourism by promoting the public art project 'Our Neighborhood Art.'
According to Mokpo City on the 11th, the public art project being promoted this time is a project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Jeollanam-do, and organized by Mokpo City, aimed at creating a unique cultural space characteristic of the region through the participation of local artists.
The city plans to proceed with the project until February next year by investing a total project cost of 400 million KRW to enhance the quality of local spaces through the installation of artworks reflecting Mokpo's unique characteristics.
This project will be open for public recruitment until the 25th, and will consist of up to 37 people including participating artists and administrative support personnel.
A Mokpo City official stated, "As COVID-19 has prolonged, we aim to create opportunities to help local artists who are experiencing economic difficulties, and the project holds significance in expressing the unique cultural value of the region through public art."

Meanwhile, the city is promoting a development plan under the slogan 'Mokpo, a New Open Port Cultural Harbor City' to be selected for the cultural preliminary city project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
