Lock&Lock Launches Tumbler Collection and Recycling Campaign This Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Lock&Lock announced on the 11th that it will carry out a resource circulation campaign to collect and recycle tumblers.
The campaign will be held until the end of this year at seven PlaceLL stores located in Seoul and the metropolitan area. Customers who bring old or unused tumblers will receive coupons to purchase Lock&Lock tumbler products at up to 40% discounted prices. In September, the first month of the campaign, all stainless steel tumblers in the stores will be offered at a 40% discount. Customers can bring not only Lock&Lock products but also tumblers from other brands. However, plastic products are excluded.
The tumblers collected at the stores will be donated to local communities to make diverse use of the stainless steel material. Tumblers consist of various materials such as inner bottle, outer bottle, lid, tea strainer, and handle, so proper separation and disposal can expand the scope of recycling. In addition, vacuum technology is applied for heat retention and cooling functions, but after about 2 to 3 years, the vacuum may weaken, causing a decline in performance. Hygiene also varies depending on management conditions, so it is recommended to replace tumblers regularly.
Kang Minsuk, Executive Director of Lock&Lock HR Center, said, “As the tendency to use tumblers instead of disposable cups is increasing for the environment, we want to raise awareness that tumblers can be reused as resources again. From a personal hygiene perspective, it is necessary to replace old tumblers, so we hope people take this opportunity to participate in resource circulation and also get a chance to purchase new tumblers.”
