The city plans to award 1,000,000 KRW to the best reporter, 500,000 KRW to excellent reporters, and 100,000 KRW to encouraging reporters.
The COVID-19 reward measures will be operated separately from the existing safety report rewards. The purpose is to encourage citizens to be aware of the risks of infectious diseases themselves and to actively report anyone who violates the rules through these rewards.
Prior to the COVID-19 report rewards, the city formed a dedicated team for COVID-19 violation reports in July and has been receiving reports of COVID-19 related risk factors through the Safety Report app.
So far, 282 reports related to COVID-19 have been received through the Safety Report app, including violations of administrative measures such as gathering bans, quarantine rule violations, and self-quarantine breaches. The city emphasizes that the reported and received information has functioned as a mechanism to take timely action and has helped quarantine activities.
Meanwhile, the Safety Report 'Safety Report' system is a program promoted to spread a safety culture and increase interest in safety through voluntary citizen reports and participation.
Reports can be made via a mobile app (website also available), and any citizen can submit safety suggestions and opinions on risk factors around their daily life.
The city also provides reward payments once each in the first and second half of the year to excellent reporters.

Park Wol-hoon, Director of the Citizen Safety Office of the city, said, "Citizen reports on violations of quarantine rules are important for the early end of COVID-19," and added, "The city will significantly expand the rewards for the COVID-19 safety report section in the second half of the year to encourage active participation from citizens."
