[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that from the 10th to the 24th, a re-exhibition notice will be held regarding the revised and approved amendment to the redevelopment promotion plan for Yongdu 1 District (Districts 2 and 3) in Yongdu-dong 26, Dongdaemun-gu, which was modified at the 10th Seoul Metropolitan City Urban Finance Committee meeting on August 18 (Tuesday).

The target site is an urban maintenance-type redevelopment zone located within the Cheongnyangni redevelopment promotion district. To expand urban housing supply, the residential ratio standard for urban maintenance-type redevelopment projects, temporarily applied for three years from March 28 last year (residential, officetel, etc. 90% + non-residential 10%), has been relaxed. The residential ratio has been increased from the existing 0% to 90%, resulting in the construction of 299 apartment units and 171 officetel units in District 2, and 288 apartment units and 120 officetel units in District 3.

A total of 156 units (77 units in District 2 and 79 units in District 3), accounting for 15% of the total floor area, have been secured as public rental housing.

The re-exhibition notice can be checked on the Dongdaemun-gu Office website’s announcement board and by visiting each neighborhood community center. After the announcement period ends, the amended redevelopment promotion plan will be officially announced.

A district official stated, “Through this amendment plan, the redevelopment project of Yongdu 1 Maintenance District, which has been stagnant for 20 years since its initial designation, is expected to be revitalized. By supplying small-sized housing and rental housing in downtown Seoul, it will also contribute to the residential safety of young people such as early career workers and university students.”
