Transition of Digital Social and Science Textbooks for Elementary Grades 3-6 from State to Accreditation
Administrative Notice Period Until the 5th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Digital textbooks for social studies and science for grades 3 to 6 in elementary school will be changed from state-authored to certified.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 11th that it will publicly notify the partial revision of the "Distinction between State-Authored and Certified Digital Textbooks for Elementary and Secondary Schools according to the 2015 Revised Curriculum."
State-authored textbooks are developed and distributed by the Ministry of Education itself, and schools at all levels must prioritize using state-authored textbooks if available. Certified textbooks are developed by various entities such as publishers and refer to textbooks approved by the Minister of Education.
Currently, digital textbooks for social studies and science for grades 3 to 6 in elementary school are state-authored, but after the revision, grades 3 to 4 will apply the change from 2022, and grades 5 to 6 from 2023.
