On the 10th, Goo In-mo, governor of Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced that he received the NACF President’s Award, given to local government heads who contributed to increasing farm income and agricultural added value.
This award is the result of efforts to create a prosperous and happy rural community through Geochang’s unique specialized policies that enhance the value of agriculture and rural areas under the county administration goal of “Realizing Prosperous Farming and Rural Economy.”
Since taking office in July 2018, Goo In-mo has strengthened Geochang’s competitive rural brand by establishing a top nationwide livestock brand, achieving “Ae-woo quality ranked first nationwide for three consecutive years,” being selected as an excellent livestock product brand for 11 consecutive years by the Consumer Citizens’ Organization, and achieving “No. 1 in eco-friendly livestock production in Gyeongsangnam-do.”
In particular, he announced the first agricultural innovation policy to double Geochang apple income to 200 billion KRW, aiming to make the county the best apple-producing region nationwide.
To this end, an advanced distribution system was established through integrated marketing with 50% joint sorting and joint calculation of Geochang apples, allowing apple farmers to focus solely on production. Additionally, the county has emphasized “3-No (無) agriculture,” producing eco-friendly agricultural products without herbicides, growth regulators, or coloring agents, and achieved significant success by being selected as a local government for joint school meals promoted by Seoul City.
