Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education Announces 2nd GED Passers... Oldest High School Graduate is 77-Year-Old Grandmother
31 Elementary Graduates, 116 Middle School Graduates, 639 High School Graduates Pass GED Exams
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 10th that it will announce the successful candidates of the '2020 2nd Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Exams' held on the 22nd of last month through the Office of Education's website at 10 a.m. on the 11th.
In the elementary school section, out of 40 applicants, 34 took the exam and 31 passed (pass rate 91.18%). In the middle school section, out of 199 applicants, 179 took the exam and 116 passed (64.80%). In the high school section, out of 999 applicants, 873 took the exam and 639 passed (73.20%).
Among the successful candidates, 48 out of 74 incarcerated individuals passed (64.86%), and 3 out of 4 persons with disabilities passed (75%), showing a high pass rate despite difficult educational conditions and continuous efforts toward their studies.
The highest scores were achieved by Kim (21, female) and Hong (19) in the high school section, and Lee (48, female) who scored perfect marks in all subjects in the elementary school section. In the middle school section, Jo (13, female) earned the highest score with 99.33 points.
The oldest successful candidate was Park (77, female), who took the high school equivalency exam. Son (69, female), who took the middle school equivalency exam, and Lee (67, female), who took the elementary school exam, also passed despite their advanced age, serving as an inspiration to those around them with their passionate pursuit of learning.

Certificates of passing will be issued from the 11th to the 25th at the Pohang, Andong, and Gumi Education Support Offices, which are the exam locations. Afterward, they will be issued at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education. Individual scores can be checked on the Gyeongbuk Office of Education website from the 11th to the 25th.
