‘Jang Cheonggang’ New Chinese Consul General in Guangzhou Visits Jeonbuk

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Zhang Chenggang (張承剛), the new Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju (consular jurisdiction over Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gwangju), paid a courtesy visit to Governor Song Ha-jin on the 8th.
Appointed as the 5th Consul General, Zhang Chenggang visited Jeonbuk without a formal inauguration ceremony due to COVID-19 and donated 10 million won to be used for flood recovery efforts in Jeonbuk.
At the meeting with the Consul General, Governor Song Ha-jin congratulated him on his appointment and expressed gratitude for the relief supplies for COVID-19 prevention and the donation for flood recovery in Jeollabuk-do.
He also emphasized the strengthened solidarity between Jeollabuk-do, the Gwangju Consulate General, and China’s sister friendship regions through overcoming crises beyond borders, expressing expectations that Jeollabuk-do’s cooperation with China will advance to a higher level with the new Consul General’s appointment.
During his first official visit to Jeollabuk-do, Consul General Zhang paid courtesy visits to Governor Song Ha-jin and Chairman Song Ji-yong, and toured the Hanok Village, a representative scenic spot in Jeonju, to better understand Jeonbuk.
The newly appointed Consul General Zhang Chenggang (張承剛) is a Korea Peninsula expert who has mainly worked at embassies in South and North Korea, and his term is four years.
