Smart IoT Air Showers Installed at Eleven CGV Locations
Effectively Blocking Ultrafine Dust and Viruses While Sterilizing
On the 7th, a special passageway was set up at the entrance of CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall Theater 4. At first glance, it looks like a security checkpoint at an airport. It is a gate-shaped structure. When standing inside briefly, an AI sensor detects the person. It then generates a breeze that removes fine dust and viruses from the hair, clothes, and skin. It even absorbs odors, helping viewers enjoy the movie with a much lighter feeling.
CGV recently formed a strategic partnership with the small and medium-sized company Purium and installed smart Internet of Things (IoT) air showers at eleven locations including Yongsan I'Park Mall, Yeongdeungpo, Songpa, Wangsimni, Suwon, Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu Stadium, Gwangju Terminal, Ulsan Samsan, and Centum City. The system blocks ultrafine dust by air injection and sucks it in with a dust collection fan. It fundamentally blocks the entry of dust and viruses at the entrance. While absorbing with ten times the power of large air purifiers, it also releases natural phytoncides to enhance human comfort levels.
The feature CGV focused on most in the air shower is the eco-friendly LED ultraviolet sterilizer (UV-A+C system). It has excellent sterilization effects capable of destroying influenza and coronavirus strains. In an antiviral test conducted for 30 minutes at a distance of 3 cm, it removed 99.9% of Human respiratory syncytial virus and Human coronavirus. It also eradicated 99.99% of Rotavirus A.
A CGV official said, “The air showers were installed as part of strengthened quarantine measures in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). From fever checks to disinfection, everything is done in a one-stop process, making it easy for anyone to use.” They added, “We expect it to greatly help alleviate audience anxiety and create a comfortable space.”

CGV also recently installed Airmax Clean Mats manufactured by Testonic at the Yeouido and Sinchon Artreon branches. This system absorbs various harmful substances. Like the air shower, it automatically detects people and activates the dust collection device. With strong vacuum power, it sucks in fine dust and harmful substances from the soles of shoes and channels them into a foreign substance collection box. This reduces indoor dust concentration and improves air quality, minimizing the possibility of contamination.
