View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The United States is reportedly pursuing the introduction of a supersonic presidential aircraft, according to CNN and other media on the 7th (local time).
According to reports, Exosonic, a supersonic aircraft manufacturer and startup, recently signed a contract with the Presidential and Executive Airlift Group (PE) under the U.S. Air Force to develop an aircraft that can be used as Air Force One, the presidential aircraft. Exosonic, which was developing a Mach 1.8 (2,203 km/h) twinjet, reportedly caught the attention of PE, which was seeking to improve Air Force One.
The military-focused media Military.com reported that a prototype of the supersonic Air Force One could be ready by 2025.
PE has also invested in Hermeus, which is already developing a hypersonic (speed above Mach 5.0) passenger aircraft. Hermeus is developing a 20-seat hypersonic aircraft that can travel from New York, USA to London, UK in 90 minutes. Hermeus announced that after successfully completing a Mach 5 engine prototype test in February, it recently secured investments from the Air Force and PE.
