Secured 60 Billion Won in National Funds for 2021 Disaster Prevention Project
Full-Scale Project to Start in 2022 After Detailed Design Next Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City is launching a new disaster prevention project with a total budget of 120 billion KRW (60 billion KRW from the central government) for five areas under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2021 Disaster Prevention Project.'
The project sites are ▲ near Jaseongdae Apartment in Dong-gu (flood risk area) ▲ Busan Dawn Market in Sasang-gu (flood risk area) ▲ Suyeong Intersection in Suyeong-gu (flood risk area) ▲ Seonsuchon Apartment in Haeundae-gu (flood risk area) ▲ and Huinyeoul Village in Yeongdo-gu (rockfall risk area).
With the design costs for these five areas reflected in the 2021 government budget, Busan City will start detailed design from January 2021 after consultations with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and will begin the project in earnest from 2022.
Byun Seong-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, "The 2021 Disaster Prevention Project includes areas such as near Jaseongdae Apartment, which recently suffered flood damage due to the Dongcheon River overflow, as well as habitual flood zones and rockfall risk areas."
