Starfield Anseong, Grand Opening on October 7
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Starfield Anseong, the largest shopping theme park in southern Gyeonggi Province, will have its grand opening on October 7.
Shinsegae Property, which operates Starfield, announced that it has confirmed the grand opening of Starfield Anseong on October 7, after the Chuseok holiday, in order to participate in the government's strengthened social distancing measures and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure customer safety.
Shinsegae Property has been focusing on opening Starfield Anseong, which is being introduced for the first time in three years following Hanam, COEX Mall, and Goyang. Although they initially considered opening before the Chuseok holiday, they ultimately decided to open after the holiday, prioritizing customer safety above all else.
However, E-Mart Traders, which will be located in Starfield Anseong, will open earlier on the 25th of this month. Through the staggered opening of Traders, it is expected to enhance convenience for customers preparing for Chuseok and alleviate congestion on the grand opening day.
Located in Gongdo-eup, Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, Starfield Anseong is a large-scale complex shopping mall with a total floor area of 240,000㎡ (approximately 72,600 pyeong) and parking capacity for 5,000 vehicles simultaneously. It consists of two basement floors and three above-ground floors, housing about 300 stores including the warehouse-style discount store E-Mart Traders, gourmet street, Ittopia, cafes, F&B facilities, as well as specialty stores such as Electromart and Toy Kingdom.
Various experiential spaces for local families are also provided. Starfield’s representative entertainment spaces such as Aquafield and Sports Monster, as well as Megabox, which offers the region’s first MX theater and kids’ theater, are located here. A cafe operates in the 63-meter-high observation tower, and the indoor plaza will offer a unique F&B experience through terrace seating.
Shinsegae Property expects Starfield Anseong to establish itself as the largest shopping theme park in southern Gyeonggi that contributes to expanding infrastructure for local residents, with its core commercial area covering Cheonan, Yongin, Osan, and Asan cities within 30 minutes.
Lim Young-rok, CEO of Shinsegae Property, said, “Starfield Anseong will provide local residents with various experiences including shopping, culture, and healing, and will also spare no effort to coexist with the local community. Above all, we decided to hold the grand opening after the Chuseok holiday in consideration of the government’s strengthened social distancing measures and customer safety as the top priority, and we will do our best to welcome customers more safely.”
