Jeju Coast Guard Emergency Duty System Activated
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency (Chief Kim Seongjong) has entered an emergency duty system since the 5th, anticipating that Jeju Island will fall within the indirect influence zone of Typhoon No. 10 ‘Haishen,’ which is moving northward.
According to the Meteorological Administration on the 6th, Typhoon No. 10 ‘Haishen’ is currently located about 290 km east of Okinawa, Japan, with a central pressure of 925 hPa, maximum wind speed of 51 m/s, a strong wind radius of 440 km, and classified as a ‘very strong’ typhoon moving northward at a speed of 184 km/h.
The Jeju Maritime Police upgraded the coastal safety accident risk forecast for the Jeju area from the “interest” stage to a “warning” on the 5th. They are strengthening patrols of ports, harbors, and coastal areas, focusing on preventing damage to moored vessels and enhancing typhoon preparedness.
Additionally, patrol vessels have been deployed by sea area to guide fishing vessels to seek shelter, while also ensuring safe navigation for passing cargo ships and other vessels, demonstrating thorough response measures.
