[Asia Economy Reporters Kim Hyemin and Jeon Jinyoung] Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 6th, "The actions of far-right groups that have forgotten the lessons of the Liberation Day rally and have announced a rally on National Foundation Day are absolutely unacceptable antisocial acts."
During his opening remarks at the high-level party-government meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim said, "I strongly urge the government to firmly exercise public authority under the principle of zero tolerance against antisocial acts that hinder quarantine efforts."
As social distancing measures have been strengthened to prevent the spread of COVID-19, far-right groups such as the Taegeukgi Revolution National Movement Headquarters and the Liberty Solidarity reportedly filed notifications to hold rallies at Gwanghwamun Square and other locations on the 3rd of next month, prompting Kim to call for a resolute response.
Kim emphasized, "Many citizens are participating in social distancing despite the inconvenience, but antisocial acts that undermine quarantine efforts are repeatedly occurring in some parts of society," adding, "The Democratic Party and the government once again pledge to win in both quarantine and the economy together with the people."
Regarding the 4th supplementary budget, Kim said, "Especially urgent are special livelihood measures for vulnerable groups affected by COVID-19, including small business owners and self-employed individuals in 12 industries subject to gathering bans, special-type workers, and youth," and added, "The 4th supplementary budget must be deployed swiftly, efficiently, and accurately in the right places."
