Choo Hye-sun Withdraws from 'LG 行'... "Resigning as Non-Executive Advisor, Sorry for the Great Disappointment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Former Justice Party lawmaker Chu Hye-sun has resigned from her position as a non-executive advisor at LG Uplus. This comes just two days after the Justice Party officially requested her withdrawal on the 4th.
On the 6th, former lawmaker Chu announced this fact through her Facebook. She said, "I apologize for causing great disappointment to party members and citizens," and added, "I will spend time in deep reflection and self-restraint going forward."
Former lawmaker Chu served on the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee and the Political Affairs Committee during the 20th National Assembly. In particular, she engaged in legislative activities monitoring major telecommunications companies and representing the interests of irregular workers at telecom companies. When it became known that she took a position as a non-executive advisor at a major telecommunications company on the 1st, strong criticism arose mainly from progressive civic groups.
There were also accusations of violation of public official ethics and conflicts of interest regarding former lawmaker Chu, who until just over 100 days ago was active in a standing committee overseeing the telecommunications sector and large corporations, taking a job at an affiliated institution of the committee she belonged to.
