[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] Protests are intensifying over the 'masked asphyxiation' death of Black man Daniel Prude during a police arrest in New York State, USA.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 5th (local time) that protests continued for the third day in Rochester, western New York State, where the Prude death incident occurred.
About 2,000 people gathered for the protest, which began peacefully but tensions escalated during clashes with the police.
Some protesters threw fireworks and other objects at the police, resulting in three officers being hospitalized. The police fired tear gas at protesters who did not comply with dispersal orders and arrested 11 people on charges including rioting and illegal protesting.
According to the local tabloid New York Post, some protesters stormed a restaurant near the site of the death incident, forcing diners to leave and shutting down the business.
A scene was also witnessed during the protest where a car charged toward the protesters.
In Manhattan, New York City, hundreds of protesters marched through the streets to protest racial discrimination.

Some protesters broke the glass windows of stores such as Starbucks, banks, and pharmacies during the protest and attempted looting, leading to the police arresting eight people.
