View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to abolish racial discrimination training programs under federal agencies, the Washington Post (WP) reported on the 4th (local time).
President Trump reportedly conveyed to each agency through Russell Vought, Director of the White House OMB, in a two-page memo sent that day to stop funding these programs, which receive millions of dollars in budget. Accordingly, the OMB has instructed agencies to compile a list of expenditures related to all training involving 'white privilege' or 'critical race theory.'
President Trump stated, "Budget should not be allocated to training programs for divisive and anti-American political agitation," and "The administration is educating public officials with divisive and anti-American political agitation," according to Vought's memo.
Vought also referred to media reports covering federal employees being required to attend training programs where they were told lectures such as 'the white majority contributed to racial discrimination' or that 'whites benefited from racial discrimination.'
The OMB has communicated that it will issue additional guidelines to reduce these programs, and some programs scheduled for the 4th have already been postponed. However, WP explained that it was not confirmed which specific programs Vought identified in the memo.
