"Experience English House Homestay Online"
Seongdong Global English House Operates Online Video English Program for 5th-6th Grade Elementary Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) Seongdong Global English House will operate the ‘Online Day Trip’ and ‘Online Mini Homestay’ programs for 5th and 6th grade elementary school students in the Seongdong-gu area from the 7th to the 25th.
Both programs provide an opportunity to experience English with native speakers through interactive video English classes using the online application ‘Zoom’.
The target number of participants is 12 for each program, divided into two classes of 6 participants each, and participation is free of charge.
The ‘Online Day Trip’ runs for 5 days from the 7th to the 11th, where students learn about self-introduction, movie theaters, parks, restaurants, theme parks, etc., and naturally discuss cultural differences between the United States and Korea in English.
The ‘Online Mini Homestay’ is a scaled-down version of the previous dormitory-style homestay, offering various situational English experiences on themes such as going to school, visiting a shopping mall, dinner, birthday parties, the beach, and festivals. It runs for a total of 8 days from the 15th to the 25th.
A total of 89 students participated in the ‘Online Day Trip’ until the end of August, and the ‘Online Mini Homestay’ is being newly conducted this time.
Parent Mr. Choi said, “Because of COVID-19, my child has been taking a break from both school and academies, so I was very worried about the learning gap, but the district office’s support for various online programs has been very helpful. The native English teachers conduct the classes kindly and enjoyably, and as a parent, I am happy to see my child sitting at the desk and studying on their own at home.”
Residents interested in participating in the programs can apply on the Seongdong Global Experience Center website by the 9th.
