Recruitment of Students for Gwanak-gu-Seoul National University SAM Online Mentoring Participation
Seoul National University Students Provide Free Academic Guidance and Career Counseling to Gwanak Elementary, Middle, and High School Students... Online Mentoring via ZOOM App Due to Social Distancing Level 2.5 Implementation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is recruiting students to participate in the SAM (SNU Active Mentoring) mentoring program, a collaboration project between Seoul National University and the district office.
The SAM mentoring program aims to enhance the district's educational competitiveness by utilizing Seoul National University's outstanding resources. It provides not only academic guidance but also career and personal counseling to help cultivate proper emotional development during adolescence.
The summer semester mentoring, which ended in August, was conducted through a combination of in-person and online sessions. However, due to the re-escalation of COVID-19 and the implementation of social distancing level 2.5, the second semester mentoring will be conducted entirely online.
For the second semester, 100 Seoul National University students will participate as mentors, matching 400 mentees from local schools and community child centers, ranging from 3rd grade elementary to 2nd grade high school students, at a ratio of 1:4.
All mentoring sessions will be held online via the video conferencing program ZOOM, free of charge, with 20 sessions in total, each lasting 2 hours, from September to December.
Institutions wishing to participate (schools, community child centers, other welfare facilities) can register on the SAM mentoring matching system website by September 10.
