'Trump Son-in-law' Kushner: "If Re-elected, Will Achieve Major Breakthrough with North Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Jared Kushner, senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump and his son-in-law, predicted that if President Trump succeeds in his re-election in the upcoming November presidential election, significant progress could be made on the North Korea issue.
On the 1st (local time), Kushner emphasized that President Trump is working for peace during an interview with The National, the UAE's state-owned daily. He said, "If President Trump succeeds in his re-election (in the November presidential election), a table will be set for a major breakthrough with North Korea." He did not mention any specific plans separately.
In the interview, Kushner used the same phrase "major breakthrough" to describe the historic normalization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He evaluated that Israel and the UAE, through the agreement, "showed that peace is possible."
Kushner said, "China will be a very, very big issue for President Trump," adding, "Once the pandemic ends, we will have very careful discussions about how our relationship with China should be." He also stated, "During the past three and a half years of his term, President Trump has not engaged in any wars," and evaluated that "the actual president tried to end wars and ease tensions."
