At the meeting with Senior Secretary Choi in the morning, Lee said, "The party, government, and Blue House are a community of destiny, and the party is one pillar of it," adding, "There will be many things the party can help with for the successful conclusion of the Moon administration."
He stated, "First, we must quickly overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and while minimizing the economic contraction caused by COVID-19, the government and ruling party will provide support without delay," pledging to do his best.
In response, Senior Secretary Choi said, "During the Democratic Party leadership election, it seems you received an unexpectedly high number of votes in a three-way contest. This proves that the trust and expectations are great," adding, "President Moon Jae-in shares the same sentiment."
He further added, "Especially regarding cooperation with the opposition parties, you mentioned principled cooperation. The Blue House respects this and will communicate with the party and diligently assist to make it happen."

Earlier, Senior Secretary Choi also received a visit from Choi Kang-wook, leader of the Open Democratic Party. Kim Sung-hoe, spokesperson for the Open Democratic Party, said in a briefing that "the two have known each other well for a long time and mainly shared personal stories such as election reflections," but also conveyed that "they agreed to cooperate on the task of reforming power institutions."
