Typhoon 'Maysak' Approaches, Ulleung-gun Conducts 'Fishing Boat Salvage Operation'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The East Coast fishing ports are on high alert as Typhoon Maysak, the 9th typhoon, approaches with strong winds and heavy rain.
According to Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, on the 2nd, there are about 160 fishing vessels registered in Ulleung-gun, of which about 80 have completed seeking shelter in safe fishing ports such as Pohang Port and Mukho Port. The remaining vessels are either moored in local fishing ports or are being hurriedly lifted ashore with the cooperation of marine construction barge companies.
Typhoon Maysak is expected to make landfall on the southern coast between the night of the 2nd and the early morning of the 3rd, pass through inland areas, and have a direct impact on Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
Ulleung-gun is finalizing safety measures such as seeking shelter for fishing vessels and securing aquaculture facilities, while small fishing vessels that have not evacuated in advance and are moored in fishing ports are being moved to Ulleung (Sadong) Port.

Kim Byung-su, the county governor who is leading the frontline at major local risk facilities and fishing vessel salvage sites, stated, "Since this typhoon is confirmed to be as strong as or stronger than Typhoon Maemi in 2003, we are concentrating all administrative efforts on minimizing damage."
