[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] It has been confirmed that a woman in her 40s and her two children, who participated in the Gwanghwamun rally on the 1st in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk, tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). In Gyeongju, a man in his 30s who returned from studying in Russia also tested positive.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 2nd, the woman in her 40s residing in Yeongdeok attended the Gwanghwamun rally with her family (husband and two children) and tested negative at the Pohang Buk-gu Public Health Center on August 18. Later, following the confirmation of her mother and husband on August 31, she and her two children tested positive on the 1st during additional testing.
The family was reclassified as close contacts of confirmed cases the day after their initial negative test and underwent self-quarantine from the 20th to the 30th. While still under quarantine, they received notification of a cohabiting family member's positive diagnosis and tested positive before the quarantine was lifted. Therefore, health authorities believe that there were almost no neighbors who had contact with this family during this period.
