Gwangju Seo-gu Launches 'Emergency Work System' to Respond to COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 1st that it has entered an emergency duty system for effective response to the nationwide spread of COVID-19.
Recently, COVID-19 confirmed cases have been occurring in triple digits daily, spreading nationwide.
Since August 27, Gwangju City has been implementing measures equivalent to social distancing level 3, such as issuing gathering bans on religious facilities and indoor sports facilities.
Accordingly, Seo-gu has organized and operated a COVID-19 emergency duty team for all departments since the 29th of last month to block community transmission of COVID-19 and strengthen quarantine management.
The emergency duty operates by matching response departments (main departments) directly involved in COVID-19 and support departments that assist the understaffed response departments.
The response departments include two health center departments related to operating screening clinics and five departments managing and supervising multi-use facilities such as religious and sports facilities, while other departments are organized as support departments matched with the response departments.
Support departments organize emergency duty personnel according to the COVID-19 response plans established by each response department, maintain a constant emergency contact system including weekends and holidays, and respond immediately in case of emergencies.
