Sancheong-gun Implements 'Basic' Comprehensive Quarantine Measures to Prevent COVID-19 Resurgence
Practice 'Wearing Masks' ... Voluntary Quarantine and Refraining from Gatherings
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is implementing a comprehensive quarantine plan that adheres to the "basics" to block the inflow of COVID-19 into the region and prevent its re-spread.
On the 1st, following the implementation of "Level 2 Social Distancing Nationwide," the county announced that it will focus on promoting three basic quarantine rules that are fundamental to COVID-19 prevention: "wearing masks," "refraining from unnecessary outings and gatherings," and "hand washing."
Specifically, the measures include △ active compliance with social distancing by public officials (refraining from large gatherings and unnecessary visits after work) △ strict indoor and outdoor mask-wearing △ adherence to non-face-to-face and gathering restrictions at high-risk businesses such as entertainment facilities △ strengthened quarantine management at transportation facilities such as bus terminals.
The county emphasized that to block the nationwide "re-surge" of COVID-19, it is essential to follow the most basic rule of wearing masks.
Earlier, at the end of August, Gyeongnam Province issued an administrative order mandating mask-wearing. This applies to transportation means such as buses, subways, ships, airplanes, and other vehicles, as well as buildings and all indoor structures completely separated from the outside.
Even outdoors, masks must be worn when gatherings such as assemblies or performances occur where many people come together and there is a risk of contact with others.
Since early February, Sancheong-gun has been responding to COVID-19 by establishing a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters in the Safety Construction Division and a Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters at the Health and Medical Center, working comprehensively with seven collaborative teams.
Since March, the county has been operating a "Unified Quarantine Day" every Friday to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This day aims for public institutions, related organizations, managers of group and multi-use facilities, and all residents to disinfect all places touched by human hands, including their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and community spaces.
A county official said, "Although many tourists visited our Sancheong-gun, including Jirisan and valleys, during the vacation season in August, we have maintained a clean area without any confirmed cases. We deeply thank the tourists who followed the daily quarantine rules, local small business owners who worked hard on voluntary quarantine, local social organizations, and volunteers."
