‘Shooting During Night Duty’ Selected as This Month’s 5·18 Democratic Merit Recipient, Late Oh Se-hyun
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office (Director Yoo Hyungseon) announced on the 1st that the late Oh Sehyun was selected as the 5·18 Democratic Merit Recipient of the Month for September.
Mr. Oh graduated from Korea University in March 1980 and joined Yuhan Corporation, receiving his first assignment in Gwangju.
On May 27, while on duty as a night watchman substituting for someone else at work, he was shot and killed by martial law troops.
An official from the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office stated, “The grave number of the late Oh Sehyun is Section 1, Plot 2-44, and anyone can visit the 5·18 Democratic Cemetery at any time to see his grave and learn about his contributions. We will continue to work hard to honor and remember those who sacrificed for democracy in our country.”
