[Photo] Prosecution Indicts Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong Without Detention
The prosecution, which has been investigating allegations of illegal succession of Samsung's management rights, indicted Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong on the 1st. The Economic Crime Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Bok-hyun) indicted Vice Chairman Lee without detention on charges including unfair trading and market manipulation under the Capital Markets Act, as well as breach of trust. Ten Samsung officials, including former Samsung Future Strategy Office Chief Choi Ji-sung (Vice Chairman) and former Future Strategy Office Strategy Team Leader Kim Jong-jung (President), were also sent to trial together. Vice Chairman Lee's side expressed a strong stance, stating that they cannot accept what they consider an unreasonable indictment by the prosecution.
