Typhoon 'Maysak' Approaches North, Uljin-gun Holds Emergency Meeting with Town and Township Chiefs Convened
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the morning of the 1st, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, held a situation assessment joint meeting chaired by the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Chief (County Governor Jeon Chan-geol), attended by heads of departments and divisions as well as eup and myeon chiefs, in response to the northward approach of Typhoon No. 9 'Maysak'.
Typhoon 'Maysak' is forecasted to enter the sea about 600 km south of Seogwipo at 3 p.m. on the 2nd, moving northeast at a maximum wind speed of 45 m/s and a speed of 24 km/h.
Accordingly, Uljin-gun is monitoring the typhoon's progress in real-time, strengthening surveillance activities in disaster-vulnerable areas, and inspecting various water facilities such as sewage systems and drainage pump stations.

County Governor Jeon Chan-geol stated, "We are thoroughly preparing in advance to prevent damage caused by tidal waves in areas that suffered significant damage from Typhoon 'Mitag' last year and coastal lowlands," adding, "We will strengthen the emergency system and actively promote through disaster text messages and the disaster village broadcasting system."
