Sunchon National University Institute of Humanities Selected for Phase 2 of Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Project, Secures 800 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon National University (President Ko Young-jin) Humanities Institute announced on the 31st that it has been selected for the second phase of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute project (formerly University-Focused Research Institute) supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and will continue its war history research for three years from September with about 800 million KRW in funding.
The Suncheon National University Humanities Institute was able to continue the second phase of the project after receiving excellent evaluations in the first phase review for its research project on "The Historical and Cultural Effects of the Asia-Pacific War and the Korean War," which was conducted over the past three years.
In the second phase, under the main theme of "Wartime System and Everyday Life," the Humanities Institute plans to clarify the cultural paradigm shifts that occurred in Korean society through the reorganization of everyday life surrounding war and Cold War life, by focusing on sub-themes such as "Discipline of Production and Control of Life," "Wartime Consumer Culture," and "Experience and Memory of War."
Based on the major research topics in the latter half, the Suncheon National University Humanities Institute plans to hold two academic conferences and one international academic conference, and publish three volumes each of research series and data series.

Kang Sung-ho, Director of the Suncheon National University Humanities Institute, stated, "Through the second phase project, we aim to deepen the understanding of wartime living conditions to comprehensively identify the cultural effects caused by the Asia-Pacific War and the Korean War, and furthermore, to apply this in a manner suitable for regional cultural research." He added, "We will make every effort in the latter half of the research to enable the Suncheon National University Humanities Institute to leap forward as a leading research institute in war history."
